Alaskan Bush People star Gabe Brown has been accused of abusing his wife Raquell Brown in recent court documents.
PEOPLE obtained an affidavit filed by Raquell on Sept. 22 in which she alleged that she suffered abuse in her relationship to Gabe and felt “forced into” their marriage.
Raquell said she met Gabe through his sister Rain in December 2017 on Instagram. Raquell and Gabe met in person for the first time in February 2018 and started dating. Throughout their relationship, they welcomed three children together (Raquell also shares two kids with an ex).
“During the first four months of our relationship, I experienced emotional and mental abuse from Gabe and his sister. Fights were started on purpose and break ups were threatened during this time,” Raquell claimed in the court document.

Raquell said that she and her two children moved to Washington in the summer of 2018 because Gabe wanted to stay close to his family. She said they lived in “a travel trailer with no electricity or water,” and Gabe was often away for long filming days.
That August, she said she witnessed “a very traumatic fight involving Gabe and his sister Rain” while she was driving them to a wedding in Idaho. She claimed Gabe had threatened to break up with her if she did not respond to his sister. Later that day, she said she was called “selfish, a bitch and a horrible person.”
“After this experience the verbal, mental and emotional abuse began to rise,” she claimed.
At one point, Raquell said she called her mother because she “wanted to come home” after fighting with Gabe. She then packed her car with her kids, her dog and a clothing basket.
She said she attempted to drive off of Gabe’s family’s property but was unable to leave because she didn’t know the code to the lock on the entrance gate. She asked Gabe for the code, but he didn’t respond. She said she attempted to drive to the gate and alleged Gabe stopped her by “jumping on the car.”

When the couple got married in 2019, Raquell said she called her mother and told her she didn’t want to sign the marriage certificate because she “felt forced into the marriage.” She said she reluctantly signed the paperwork when she was “promised a bigger wedding” with her family in attendance.
As time went on, Raquell said Gabe and Rain made her isolate herself in fear of “things” getting out in the public due to their fame. She also alleged that her kids experienced “physical abuse masked as discipline” by Gabe and were repeatedly yelled at in their faces.
Raquell said Gabe began to treat her even worse after his father died in February 2021. “Gabe would experience night terrors, he would punch, kick and choke me while I was sleeping during these episodes,” she alleged.
“There have been many occasions while pregnant that Gabe would yell at me, follow me to the bathroom while I locked the doors to escape him, even locking my children in their bedroom and preventing me from entering to calm them down. He would also yell at the children, hit them and intimidate them to get them to cooperate for him,” she claimed.

After Alaskan Bush People went on hiatus in 2022, Raquell claimed Gabe “began growing distant and short.”
“He started yelling at me and the kids louder. He would hit them and yell in their faces. He’s even done this in front of my mother and some of our friends,” she said, adding that she filed a request for a restraining order against him in April 2023 that was eventually dismissed.
Raquell said she started to see a psychiatrist and therapist regularly and was diagnosed with PTSD, major depressive disorder, panic disorder and anxiety.
After the couple reconciled in March 2024, Raquell alleged the abuse continued.
“During times of arguments in the house, Gabe would do a roll call for everyone in the house to line up as if we were in the military. We couldn’t speak unless spoken to, we couldn’t leave until he dismissed us,” she claimed.
Raquell said she felt “overwhelmed and stressed” after news of their separation made headlines in July.
“I made a mistake thinking the only way I could get out of my marriage would be suicide,” she said. “I was made to believe that if I wanted a divorce Gabe would take my children and everything away from me.”
“I regret this decision and am ashamed of myself for it,” she continued, adding that Gabe took their three children from her mother in Minnesota while she was recovering in the hospital.
Raquell claimed that she has only been able to video chat with her kids two to three times since Gabe took them back to Washington. She said one of their children called her stating that she was hungry and has said that Gabe sleeps until late in the afternoon.
“I worry for my children’s safety and wellbeing every day,” she said.
Raquell filed a petition for divorce on the same day, stating that their marriage ended in April 2026.
