Angela Murray-as-Jennifer Coolidge trashes Barrett Pfeiffer after ‘Big Brother’ betrayal: ‘What were you thinking? You had it so good!’
Welcome to Reality Derby, Gold Derby’s deep dive into all things reality TV, hosted by senior editors Marcus James Dixon and Denton Davidson. Watch the latest episode above.
Big Brother fan favorite Angela Murray was shockingly eliminated from the house on Thursday in a 3-2 vote over Dee Valladares. Now, in an exclusive Gold Derby interview, she is impersonating Jennifer Coolidge (as she often did in the house) to trash the person responsible for her ouster, Barrett Pfeiffer.
“What were you thinking? You had it so good!” she rasps in the Emmy-winning actress’ voice. “You were so insulated and now you have Dee coming after you. It’s going to be very, very bad.”
Angela acknowledges her emotions were heightened inside the house, which led to “some heated arguments” with Jason De Puy, Haley Thogmartin, and Yash Patel, to name a few. “It’s a large house and there are a lot of moving parts,” she explains. “Sometimes the walls start to close in on you a bit, and it feels like it’s the most important thing in that moment. It is stressful, it is impactful to your emotions, and sometimes you just have to let it out.”
The Utah-based real estate agent adds, “I play with my heart on my sleeve, I play a very emotional game, and I just wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s unapologetically me in the house and in those moments and circumstances. Is that me in everyday life? No! I can walk away. I never have to see you again if we have a disagreement. But here, I have to live with you, I have to share a bathroom with you. We’re going to have it out and then we’re going to try to see what we can do to repair it — or not.”

Angela made some noticeable changes to her gameplay between Seasons 26 and 28, including crying less and aligning with strong people. “I wanted to be a member of an alliance that I could trust, and that they trusted me, and that we could move forward in the game together and pivot where we needed to, and play strong and have fun and take people out.” Her goal was to “live that Big Brother dream” that she always envisioned while sitting on her couch.
“I’m so, so happy I got to do it again,” Angela smiles. “Season 28 was my redemption year and I’m very, very proud that I made it as far as I have. I wasn’t supposed to make it that far, but I did and I’m so, so proud of that.”
Her “most favorite” moment was aligning with the Survivor icons, Dee and Rick Devens. “It could have gone either way,” she confesses. “We could have meshed well or they could have stayed together and said, ‘We don’t want you.’ They were a little hesitant to want to work with me, but Dee said she felt a vibe, and Devens felt a vibe, and we were good. … That was pretty freaking cool.”
As for her “least favorite” moment? “Probably flipping that vote on Haley and having to deal with that aftermath for almost two or three weeks,” she recalls. (For the record, Haley has forgiven her, telling Gold Derby, “I would’ve loved to give Angela one more hug.”)

After appearing on two seasons of Big Brother and one season of The Amazing Race, Angela is having second thoughts about completing the CBS reality-show trifecta with Survivor, especially after talking to Dee and Devens.
“I wanted to … maybe I still do,” she admits. “I think that would be an adventure of a lifetime. If I were ever gifted such an opportunity, I would never say no. I would be there in a heartbeat. I would love it and I would play my heart out as well.”
Angela and LaTrice “Lala” Verrett are the first two members of the BB28 jury who will vote to decide the winner of the $750K grand prize on Oct. 1.
‘Big Brother 28’: Angela faces heartbreak as her husband, Murray, confirms their divorce for a disgusting reason
Heartbreak in the House: Big Brother 28 Star Angela Murray Faces Devastating Divorce After 35 Years of Marriage
Reality television is rarely for the faint of heart. Behind the blinding studio lights, roaring applause, and the chance to capture the coveted title of “America’s Favorite Houseguest” on Big Brother Season 28, alum Angela Murray is facing an unimaginable crisis in the real world: the sudden collapse of her three-decade-long marriage.
Stepping back into the Big Brother house meant bidding a temporary farewell to the people she loves most. But Angela could never have anticipated that pursuing her passion would coincide with a devastating betrayal from the man she trusted with her life.
A 35-Year Fairytale Romance Crumbles
To her legions of fans, Angela and her husband, Chuck Murray, shared a modern-day fairytale. Meeting when Angela was just 15 years old in high school, the couple built a life together that spanned over three and a half decades. They tied the knot in 1991, settled in Utah, and raised four children—Amanda, Christine, CJ, and Lexi—while welcoming three grandchildren into their fold.
As recently as September 2025, just months before her return to reality TV, Angela took to TikTok to gush about her enduring bond. “He’s more than my better half, he’s the other half of me,” she shared in a touching tribute. Calling him her “steady anchor in the storm” and her “safe place,” she wrote that she couldn’t imagine life without him. Even when celebrating their 32nd wedding anniversary, Angela filled social media with nostalgic throwback photos and glowing tributes to her grade-school sweetheart.
Yet, that unbreakable bond dissolved the moment the cameras started rolling on her new season.
The Ultimate Betrayal While Inside the House
Leaving family behind for a grueling competition like Big Brother always demands immense sacrifice. For Angela, however, the price of admission wasn’t just isolation within the four walls of the house—it was a devastating heartbreak waiting for her on the outside.
Barely had Angela settled into the rhythm of the new season when Chuck Murray confirmed he was filing for divorce. The reasons behind his abrupt decision have sent shockwaves through the fandom, largely driven by what many are calling a callous and unjustifiable timing. Rather than supporting his wife through her competitive journey or waiting for her return to hash out their differences, her partner of 35 years chose to pull the rug out from under her while she was cut off from the world.
For a woman who poured her heart and soul into keeping her family anchored, the blow is catastrophic. All those romantic declarations, the shared milestones, and decades of history have turned into profound pain.
A History of Fighting for Family
Angela is no stranger to family turbulence. In 2021, she and her family famously appeared on an episode of House Calls with Dr. Phil to address deep-seated domestic strains—most notably, an intense rift that caused her daughter Lexi to refuse to speak to Chuck for five years, even while living under the same roof. Through sheer maternal grit and family counseling, Angela successfully helped mend the fracture, later even teaming up with Lexi to compete on The Amazing Race Season 38.
Angela has spent her life stitching broken pieces back together. But this time, the wound was inflicted by the very person who was supposed to hold the safety net.
As Big Brother 28 marches on, viewers are watching more than just a game of strategy; they are witnessing a resilient woman grapple with the wreckage of a 35-year marriage. Whether Angela can summon the strength to stay in the fight remains to be seen, but her story is a stark reminder of the hidden personal costs behind the glittering world of television.
